FireNes 0

While not the most useful addon ever but it’s really cool that they got this to work. FireNes is a NES emulator that runs inside of Firefox and has over 2500 Nintendo games without the need to install anything.

This is our second month running this column and as everyone here at Exploding Wumpus liked to work on it and give their opinion, we have decided to bring it back. There isn’t a lot of movies coming out this month that look good, sadly. But we will make do.

Nowned: I was extremely surprised how good this movie looks. At first i was expecting this to be the one bad comic book movie coming out this summer as pretty much every other one actually looks good, which is kinda amazing considering last summer, not to mention the fact that the 2003 Hulk movie was terrible. I especially like how the plot is actually unique for a change. I’ve got high expectations for this movie.
Bluesun: I have never really liked Hulk especially since the 2003 release. I also see a striking similarity between Hulk and Ironman: Main character attacked by military, becomes hero, military creates copy that is better, two fight each other, main character wins, the end.

Nowned: I’m probably one of the few people who have actually read the Wanted comic book series that this movies is based on but just for the rest of you to know this movie is absolutely nothing like the comic book. I don’t even know how they can say that this is based on the comic book series they aren’t alike at all. In the comic books the characters are all superheros(villians, actually) that are in a league of super villians that control the world. Now how the heck does that compare to assasins? All of this aside, this movie still looks epic. Nice to see Angolina Jolie back in full form. Can’t wait to see this.
Bluesun: Looks good, a new idea to spice it up. Has a kind of Jumper feel to it though

Nowned: Everyone who knows me knows that i’m a huge fan of animated movie and especially Pixar movies. I have been looking forward to this movie ever since i heard about it when i saw the first teaser at a Ratatouille prescreening last year. Hopefully ill go see this on opening night.
Bluesun: I think this movie looks very good although if there is too much talking in “robot” it might ruin the movie.

This is definately up there as one of the best flash games i have ever played. It is a lot of fun and extremely addicting. You control a robot and you go around killing other robots and upgrading your robot. It’s a top down shooter and it is a lot of fun.
Note: If you are using Firefox 3 RC1 on the Mac you might have some trouble playing this game(at least i did) but it works fine in Safari

With Vista, Microsoft decided to steal all of the Mac’s awesome features and now it looks like with Windows 7 they are going to go after all of the iPhone and iPod Touches great features. So odd. Someone at Microsoft needs to get some creativity.

Ya. Nothing to say. What a terrible show.

This is an awesome video by Daniel Floyd, a professor at Savannah College of Art and Design, discussing how we need MORE sex in video games so that we can end the controversy over sex in video games. It’s an extremely interesting video to watch.

This is probably the coolest piece of homebrew software that i have seen yet for the Nintendo DS. This app is described best on it’s website
Colors! is a simplistic digital painting application for Nintendo DS based on modern painting-techniques developed for drawing tablets in programs like Photoshop. By taking advantage of the pressure sensitivity of the DS touch-screen it becomes a perfect portable digital sketch-book.
The app is constantly in development and they are planning on adding a lot of awesome features as it’s currently pretty simplistic. All you need to run this is a compatible Nintendo DS Flashcart and of course a Nintendo DS. Theres a gallery online of pictures people have made with this.

This is his project for his final year, which is a touch screen turntable that lets DJ’s loop, sameple and scratch wave forms. This is currently a working prototype and Scott is looking for someone to partner with to actually get it Manufactuared. There are a bunch more video’s of this on Scott Hob’s Vimeo Page.

Hey again. Its been awhile since I last posted and recently I have stumbled upon some fantastic music. I would like to believe that my music taste is very different than others, not that its like weird ass punk, heavy metal, rap or anything else that i couldn’t even call music. I mostly listen to Indie/Alternative because its where you find the “good” music. You really know its good music when they get the emotions across, if I can feel what they where feeling when they made it than I truly think that is the definition of good music. So most of the music i’ve been listening right now is Belle and Sebastian it really connects with me and where I am. I find it amazing how they have managed to create so much diverse music.
But in other news ive been recently trying to play acoustic and electric guitar and let me tell you folks it aint easy at all. Ive been trying for about 2 weeks and I haven’t got far at all but than again my patience for guitar runs pretty low.

AMD is in the process right now of setting up AMD GAME! branding. The idea is, if you computer is branded AMD GAME! it should run all the modern games. I’m sure some people are already starting to see that this is a bad idea. Thats because it is. For one thing, nVidia and Intel aren’t likely to start marking their stuff with a big bold “AMD GAME!” Sticker, seeing as each company is competing with the others in at least one way. Secondly, How do you tell how long that “AMD GAME!” computer will be running modern games? You would still end up on the hardware upgrade rat race.
