The Cleveland Show View Comments
This season, Fox has greenlit two seasons of “The Cleveland Show”, a Family Guy spin-off produced by Seth MacFarlane. I love Family Guy, and I even like American Dad after taking a few episodes to get into it. Anyway, here is the trailer for Cleveland’s new show. I have to say that my first reaction, is that this show will be mediocre. But I trust in Seth MacFarlane’s comedy and I am most always impressed.
Personally, I found the little racial joke there between Cleveland and his apparently anthropomorphic bear neighbor to be the funniest part of this trailer.
A few details to answer questions that I’m sure that this trailer will raise in your minds as well:
Cleveland will officially leave Family Guy, but MacFarlane has hinted that he may come back for occasional visits if necessary. The show, which was scheduled to debut in the beginning of 2009, is set to premiere September 27, 2009. Due to the cancellation of both the long running series King of the Hill, and the short lived series Sit Down, Shut Up along with the renewal of American Dad!; The Simpsons will be left as the only non-Seth MacFarlane series in FOX’s “Animation Domination” Sunday night lineup.
Cleveland has kind of had enough in Quahog—he kind of realizes that he wants his own friends, his own sidekicks, his own stories. So he sets out to California to make it in a way that we’ll have to keep a secret until the show starts, and then he ends up somewhere else, which we’ll also keep a secret until the show starts. But he basically goes home—he goes to his hometown in Virginia and rekindles an old high school flame.
—Mike HenryHis newly introduced family includes his new wife in her late thirties, Donna (Sanaa Lathan), her teenage daughter, Roberta (Reagan Gomez-Preston) and her five year-old son, Rallo (Mike Henry). Cleveland Jr., who also appears in the show, is now eleven and is more obese than in his previous appearances on Family Guy, and is now voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson.
Cleveland’s neighbors also include a family of talking anthropomorphic bears (the husband, Tim, is to be voiced by MacFarlane while the wife, Arianna, is to be voiced by Arianna Huffington), a “hipster” wannabe named Holt (to be voiced by Jason Sudeikis), a redneck couple (with the husband Lester to be voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson) and an English family, with the husband to be voiced by Seth MacFarlane.
