Team Fortress 2 Spy kit Soundpack - Basically, as I would think, ALL of the sound effects for the spy? And the best part, they aren’t 5 minutes long, like some other soundpacks would have, so it is possible to use with MSN and not hate your life.

Starcraft Sets Soundpack - About 5 different sound effects, but the only one I particularly enjoyed was the nuclear launch one.

Metal Geat Solid - Probably the most suitable MSN noises so far, and just cool. Too bad there’s only like 6.

Final Fantasy Soundpack - Once again, the only one I think can be used for MSN without cutting it is the victory sound effect xD

Age of Empires Soundpack - That is if you want to annoy yourself to death, you’re most welcomed to. This will assist.

Warcraft 3 Soundpack - This can be hilarious if used for the right cause.

Worms Armagedon Soundpack - something personally I would enjoy, but…. in spanish?

Penny Arcade Winamp Skin - I don’t know how many of you would be using winamp, but very and very nicely done from what i saw

Castle Crashers Winamp Skin - Well, what more can I really say.

Sooo some productive minutes of boredom

I know it may sound ridiculous, but, oh my, peta keeps surprising me. What am I going to write about? WoW. You’re probably wondering what’s the hell does that have to do with peta. Well I’ll tell you what.

I don’t even know how to start. er- Since I am subscribed to peta e-mails as every good citizen who kind of thinks they should protect nature, but at the same time don’t care enough to do very much about it but read about how other people do it, I’ve got a rather interesting letter today. “Help Battle Seal Slaughterers in World of Warcraft!” was the line i spotted before routinely closing the window. WHOA. All I can say is you can find the information once you click a link above.

I don’t know whether I should laugh or cry, but all the same, I’m kind of proud of all the people who come up with new interesting ideas and ways to promote what they believe in.

PS the coments there are rather silly.

According to Fudzilla, Xbox reaction to the new economic state might be recalling xbox 360 elite’s from market and only sell it in limited edition packages such as Resident Evil 5 themed special edition of the console, since the ps3 prices are to be cut and will most likely fall below those of xbox, which hardware configuration is considered to be “weaker”. Elite appears to be the slowest sold model and the majority of people who wants it, ask specifically for it. Therefore Microsoft is deciding that fewer retailers, if any, should have the model.

Those limited editions though are rumored to have a bigger hard drives and possibly few stat increases.

According to the sources, the rumor will be investigated further, as at the moment there are no definite details. But then again, other things like pegging the announcement of DirectX 11 and cutbacks were said by Microsoft to be “exaggerated”.

 I suppose we shall see.

But as this game hit America, it also hit Europe. And, like in everything else, they like to be somewhat extravagant. Here’s an ad for it:

From what I got, some two kids made a Fart Planet and are going through a bum mountain level, including the sound effects and in the end, Sackboy gets shot out of the ass (:

Well, that is certainly interesting. I lol’d.

As of some time ago, WoW has been officially declared an addiction, or a “drug”. Not only this, but according to Sweden’s Youth Care Foundation it is also a ‘key addiction” among gamers. As the message is obviously not convincing enough in itself, Mr. Rollenhagen declared, “It is the crack cocaine of the computer game world.”

One of the basis of their announcement was an event that occured a week after the new expansion came out. A 15-year-old boy from western Sweden collapsed and went into convulsions on Sunday afternoon after playing the World of Warcraft for 20 hours straight. After the even was made public, thousands of parental calls were made to the association. The foundation says that in 2007, it received 2,000 calls to its addiction helpline, 170 of which concerned computer games. Presumably, all 170 calls involved World of Warcraft. According to their speaker she has seen a “steady rise in computer game addiction, with most cases stemming from those playing online fantasy games such as World of Warcraft and Counter Strike.”

WoW might not be just a game, it might be laced with drugs, which evil Blizzard enforces on our children. For parents of those, I have two words: “Parental Control”. Don’t blame the game, blame yourself. As a responsible parent, you should learn that your child plays World of Warcraft beforehand, not postfactum. Especially if you’re the one paying for it. Then, don’t leave it hanging and set up parental controls on your child’s account, don’t assume a 15-year-old would know the limits. Pay attention to what your kid is doing before they collapse in epileptic shock.

Like so, completely useless in the concept of losing weight, it gives those people an excuse to say that they are “trying”, and it’s not they’re fault. For Chriiist’s sake, they are such tings like “watching diet”, “getting out of the sofa”, and the most alien of all – “gym”. Except they tend to actually contribute to such things as Weight Loss. I agree with the fact that Wii Fit can be a valid entertainment for kids/families/individuals who like to play sports motion controlled games, and great fun overall. But nevertheless, its original concept, or as others may say, the purpose of the set, aka exercising, serves like a lousy excuse for those who are lazy and think that their favourite concole can make miracles happen.

I wrote this article last year for my High School’s Paper. I was going to write a game review today, but I discovered this piece, for all of you to enjoy. Please note all of the mistakes, for you (Probably) won’t see them in my future articles (Example: Using “I”)

One of my rules is to hand-out bad reviews, but after facing Phoenix Wright in Court, I digress. In the third instalment of the “Ace Attorney” series, Phoenix Wright is back in court, to face five brand new cases. The player takes control of Phoenix Wright, an infamous Defence Attorney known for his ability to “turnabout” a seemingly impossible case. Players get to investigate crime scenes, collect evidence, and of course, face-off in Court.

The “Investigation” parts of the game are seemingly simple enough, but to add to the difficulty, you must collect all evidence in order to proceed, and unlock all “Psyche-locks”. Psyche-Locks are the locks of people’s secrets that turn up when a person lies (and can only be seen by the holder of the “Magatama”) You present evidence in order to break these locks, which in-turn, garners you more information for that particular case. After you complete everything, you’re given the option to save, and move on to the “Trial” part of the game. Trials are the core of the game, and can be very intense. The court is introduced usually in a comedic fashion, and the current trial is reviewed. After the opening statement from the Prosecution Attorney, they will call out their witness to testify. You being the Defence Attorney must “Cross-Examine” the witness, to net out any contradictions you may find. To find a contradiction you must first peruse through the “Court Record”, which is the truth, any statement that deviates from that record, is a contradiction. Once you find a contradiction, you present the evidence that it contradicts, slam your hands on the table, point towards the witness and shout “Objection!”

The greatest thing about Phoenix Wright is not the game play, but the music, the characters and the plot. This game’s music is very jazz-inspired and always fit the mood and the character. When the “Pursuit” theme plays, the whole scene just intensifies beyond belief. Another great track is “The Fragrance of Dark Coffee”, very jazzy, and is the theme of the mysterious Prosecutor: Godot (Pronounced Go-Doh). Speaking of which, this Prosecutor comes “back from Hell” in order to face Phoenix Wright, in court. He’s ruthless, drinks a lot of Coffee (17 Cups per Trial) and openly disrespects Phoenix, calling him “Trite” which is most fitting. Did I mention he wears an electronic visor? Godot himself, is very a very deep character, having a huge lexicon of metaphors (mainly Coffee ones; “I am no Spoony Bard I assure you!”) The game houses many memorable characters such as Detective Dick Gumshoe, Larry Butz, Maya Fey and even the Judge. The title character has an immense sense of Justice, and believes in his client until the very end. Now, the plot of the game is the most interesting. It may not seem like it, but most of the cases do revolve around one greater story line, which I dare not spoil. The first case revolves around Phoenix Wright, as he is accused of murder, and you control his future Mentor (Mia Fey) and prove him innocent. After the game is complete, all loose ends from all three games are tied, and good times are had by all.

Overall this game is amazing, and a must have for anybody who loves a good plot, memorable characters and great music. Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations gets a “Not Guilty” verdict in my court.

I hope you enjoyed this article, and will attempt to pick up and play the Phoenix Wright games . Next week,( or possibly sooner… or later) look forward to a review on Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation AND (AND!) Fire Emblem 7 (The first American GBA release of Fire Emblem) I may just pull a shenanigan and review Golden Sun.

Well as many of us know some things in life will give you a funny feeling in the pants. If unknown by the reading populace of this site Fable 2 was one of these things, and after days and months of playing Fable 2 – beating it many a times and owning literally every available place to buy, changing into the opposite gender, becoming The Major and every other title, contracting diseases, and making my girl friend angry at me, starting to fail classes, and probably making a hospital into a good place to visit.
I have decided that Fable 2 was a utter disappointment in comparison to Fable and the vast majority of other RPG’s, and thus not worth it. Its good for a play but… come on! For a final bad guy, killing him with a music box you find in a limbo type area by just pressing A is a horrible final boss! complete balls in mouth if you will. I was expecting a good 15 hours of main story line but you can rush through it in at least 5 hours. It hurts me doing what i did for that game Lion Head lolzzzzzz you break my heart with this game… if it was not for Fable 1 being so amazing then i would completely and utterly hate you with all thats left of me.

Still was a good game just its needs more. A lot more. So much more that it should be paring oblivion in length.

This article is a collaboration between Moyah and Mr.Wumpus. Here we hope to provide you with an interesting look back at a bunch of games that deserve a proper and sincere remaking. What they should include in their remakes and what they should leave behind.

Mechwarrior

Good Times

Mechwarrior was incredibly fun. Bloody simple fun too. You get 100 some tons of armor and guns, then blow shit up. With rockets, lasers, autocannons, pretty much anything that can leave a dent in a ton of steel. If there is a simpler recipe for fun it probably involves short circuiting your spinal cord while directly injecting dopamines into your brain.

Needs to include: The same basic system that Mechwarrior 4 had with a bit more customization.
Needs to exclude: Mechassault. Simplifying Mechwarrior down fails, because the fun of the game was in loading up your custom mech with the weapons you wanted.

Note: Fans of Mechwarrior may yet get their fix. A Crysis mod by the name of Mechwarrior: Living Legends has sprung up and is producing amazing work. Though the mod is not yet playable, if you bought crysis check it out.

Descent: Freespace

Yeah, That's Awesome

Freespace was an awesome game that nobodies ever heard of. The game is a space shooter, in the style of TIE Fighter. The sense of scale was unprecedented in 1998. The ships you encounter in Freespace 2 are as long as 6 kilometers and armed to the teeth. Watching battles play out with massive warships ripping each other to pieces with beams capable of instantly vaporising your fighter without any effort at all. The icing on the cake is the Freespace modding community. Freespace still has an incredibly active modding community who are producing mods for just about every universe imagined. Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars (Lucas shut it down; say goodbye to your dreams of anything like a TIE Fighter sequel).
Needs to include: Even more massive ships and new storyline, and maybe some more customization.
Needs to exclude: Goddamn escort missions. I want to blow up alien space craft, not babysit a destroyer through an asteroid field (actual mission) or keep a bunch of tiny escape pods alive in the middle of a massive alien interceptor rush.

Alien Vs Predator

Concept Art

Some of the most awesome games ever. Who doesn’t have memories of running along the walls as a sneaky alien, before dropping silently behind an unsuspecting human and eating his skull? How about cloaking as the predator then pinning people with the speargun. And no one can deny that the selection of weapons that the humans have was anything less than awesome. Homing bullets? Awesome. Even though this series has had several sequels, none have been worthy of the AvP Title. Give us another AvP 2.
Needs to include: Aliens. Predator. Humans. Guns. Done.
Needs to exclude: Suck and fail.

Bushido Blade

Sparks? Or blood?

Bushido Blade was a game for the original Playstation, it was a one on one armed fighting game featuring Japanese weaponry and fighting styles. The reason this game was so facking oresum was because of how realistic it was. I am a huge advocate of realistic damage in games no matter how frustrating or difficult it is and this game had it all. It was a fighting game with no health bar or time gauge, you could cripple, disable limbs of or even kill your opponent in a single strike. Your throws? literally just grapples on the ground and what not. We need a next gen version of this game because as frustrated as most children would get with the realism, it just adds a sense of believability and tension to a fight where one slash to your chest from a katana is game over. The game forces you to block and parry and dodge and play like every move is your last, now that is exciting shit and it makes each kill so satisfying because of how important just that one blow was. The original Bushido blade even had a revolutionary level design system whereby it wasn’t the standard side scrolling tiny arena most fighting games have, you were free to run, climb and jump around huge 3d environments to your hearts content. Free roaming is always a good idea. This next gen version could provide dismemberment instead of just limb disabling and some beautiful next gen graphics and online play. I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Needs to include: Hyper realistic damage simulation, updated graphics, Free roaming levels, deep weapon-character relation
Needs to exclude: Being released only on a Playstation system

Jet Force Gemini

Headshot

Jet Force Gemini was a 3rd person shooter created for the nintendo 64 by Rareware, and by the current standards of the time you couldn’t call JFG anything less than totally fantastic. This game just knew how to make gun battles with giant insects gory and exciting and even included a cooperative mode by way of a floating robot companion named Floyd. This game had great graphics for it’s time but was really so good because it was incredible violent and made it very satisfying to slaughter ants, you could even collect ant heads for rewards and unlockables. Rare really made some fantastic shooters for the N64; Jet force gemini, Perfect dark and Golden eye. Lets just hope that a JFG remake doesn’t flop like Perfect Dark Zero (ugh).
Needs to include: Fun level exploration, Great gore, Awesome weapons, Co-op
Needs to exclude: Original final boss, Necessity to unlock co-op mode

Die by the Sword

Weed Wacker

Nothing good can really be said about DBTS‘s horrible graphics, story or dialogue but what has to said is that this game had a revolutionary control scheme where one would swing the mouse to simulate swinging of a sword. Very very tricky to get used to at first but in the end that method of control would prove to make this game incredibly fun especially when the full dismemberment of the battles was to be considered. Sword fights become especially epic when real skill comes into place because of your total control of the swords movement, and the game becomes even greater when limbs can be removed (it was always a great laugh to see a one legged knight hopping around). This game needs to, more than ANYTHING be remade on the Wii, not with this bullshit “swing in eight directions” game play (see: Red Steel) but with FULL range of motion, because you and I both know, Nintendo, that the Wii mote is capable of that function. So fucking use it already.
Needs to include: Full range of motion controls, Dismemberment, Arena battle mode
Needs to exclude: Voice acting, Story, Incredibly aimless wandering through missions that give you no clear goal whatsoever

It’s been a long time since I’ve written an original article, it feels good.
This article will now commence on giving you six good reasons why you should definitely give the game Castle Crashers another look, or possibly even a first look. This, in all logical assumption, is going to be a fantastic game.

1. It is a 4-player cooperative game.

Everyone in their right mind, or anyone with real-life friends, knows that there can never be too many games with 4-player co-op. I hold in firm belief that EVERY game should attempt to incorporate co-operative into it’s campaign mode and when a game gives four people the chance to all kick ass together? Well, that’s just fantastic of them. n+ being the most prime example of epic 4-player action on the XBLA so far. There is nothing default in the human psyche that dislikes comradery and hence slaughtering barbarian hordes with 3 knightly friends has no inherent problem, but is in fact quite awesome.

2. It is made by The Behemoth, producers of glorious win such as Alien Hominid.

Anyone who has not played Alien Hominid, in it’s roots as a flash game on newgrounds or in it’s last-gen console version or even in it’s beautiful HD re imagining on the XBLA should be playing it right now. Alien Hominid is the closest thing I’ve ever had to a favourite game, it had everything going for it: fun, addicting gameplay, humour, co-op and a phenomenal art style. You know that because these are the same people behind Alien Hominid that the game is going to have just the right feel; and the developers know how to make killing lots of dudes with a relatively simple combat system incredibly addicting and stylish as fuck. Even though controlling 4 element-wielding knights with swords would be fun enough as is, this game boasts over 20 characters and a fucking slew of awesome weapons (40 weapons), also, helper animal orbs ranging from adorable to terrifying. Alien Hominid had only one playable character, only six or so upgrades to your gun and only one kind of melee attack and because of how well it worked, it still never got old. Just imagine how well this will turn out given the content.

3. The art style is phenomenal hand drawn work. And will look fantastic in HD

Here are links to some choice pieces of artwork. Not only is the art style colourful and very cool looking, it is often hilarious. Alien Hominid was a very funny game and manage to slide something “lulz-worthy” into just about every element of scenery or animation it provided to the player, and the screen shot gallery for Castle Crashers proves that we can expect the same level of cleverness hidden in every nook and cranny of the game’s design.

4. The videos and trailers make it look just as good as you would expect.

The developers provide a plentiful development blog to keep everyone’s interest and in doing so, numerous videos have been released regarding the game. Here is a link to some very interesting videos showing the creation process that goes into the game. Below I have put up the two trailers available with actual gameplay footage.

This is the old trailer, really old actually and technically the only trailer.

Castle Crashers Trailer (Old) from The Behemoth on Vimeo.

This is a short trailer of “Beefy mode” a high-damage form you can achieve with a sandwich.

Castle Crashers – Beefy Mode from The Behemoth on Vimeo.

5. It has been in production for at least two years and honestly, The Behemoth cannot afford to botch this release considering it is only their second game.

Castle Crashers has been in production from at least 2006 when it was announced and likely even before that. The Behemoth so far has a spotless record (having released only one game prior) and it would be in bad taste to proudly release and hype a game that they knew was terrible. Given the quality of Alien Hominid and the necessity of this release being all that it looks to be, we can give The Behemoth excitement purely on faith even if one were to ignore all the conclusive evidence that it will surely kick ass.

6. The merchandise is incredible. (Not really a reason to buy the game but it’s really quite cool.)

Awesome shirts, awesome hats and possibly the best thing of all; figurines! Every game should have figurines! I personally already own an Alien Hominid shirt and a set of AH figurines but I am physically restraining myself (well, my wallet is) from ordering Castle Crashers figurines! God-damn those things are cool.

I hope this list has enlightened you to the release of a game that really does not deserve to be over-looked. And if you already knew it existed then I hope this article helps you decide to buy it, I really think these guys deserve the money. So that they can make some more games. Castle Crashers releases August the 27th 2008, if you have Alien Hominid HD already downloaded you unlock Alien Hominid as a character in the game, it’s The Behemoth’s little way of thanking the fans.

Dead rising is coming to Wii this winter cleverly entitled: Dead Rising: Chop till you drop. For those of you who don’t already know, Dead Rising was a fan-fucking-tastic game on the Xbox 360 where you play as a bad-ass journalist named Frank West as you try to survive in a mall for 3 days so you can be helicoptered to safety. The catch is, that mall is filled with the zombified residence of an the entire small town of Willamette, Colorado. Dead Rising was one of my favourite 360 games and I hope that it can be faithfully recreated on the Wii. According to the article in Nintendo Power, Dead Rising: Chop till you drop is an exact port of the 360 version only with a few more weapons and some (hopefully appropriate) motion controls. They’ve decided to axe the photography element of the game apparently but I don’t believe that it’s much of a loss and will be completely looked over if the motion controls are done well and satisfyingly.

The only issue I can see with the port is that when Dead Rising was announced, Capcom decided it would show off how many zombies they could fit on screen with their fancy next-gen teknologie. They bragged upwards of 1000 zombies at a time, and to be honest some places in the game there probably could have been close to 1000 zombies and the game never hitched up; it was a hell of an achievement. The obvious hardware deficiency in the Wii could hamper the awesome that was having 1000 zombies bounce off the hood of your car in the underground maintenance tunnels, but the developers goal is apparently to have somewhere around 100 zombies on the Wii. Which, if the game is ported properly, should not be a noticeable detriment.

Spider-man games to date have been mediocre at best, netting pretty low review scores. I personally fell in love with spider-mans 2 and 3 but I will at least admit that the first game was about as fun to play as being force-fed boiling hot porridge. So spider man games tried to break this trend with a crap-tastic kids game, spider-man: friend or foe. As you can tell by the description “crap-tastic”, it was fucking terrible. So here we are presented by a spider-man game that isn’t a movie game or a shitty kids game, it’s originally titled and the story is totally new. Promising? I think so. I was not paying much attention to the new game until this trailer from the san-diego comic-con. And now I will carefully track it’s every move… this game looks so terribly glorious I just cannot put it into words.
Keep an eye out for a symbiote-infected Wolverine right at the end, It’s fucking awesome.
I recommend following the link and watching it in HD over at gametrailers.com, it’s a very very pretty trailer.

Konami is still on with the law suit game. This time Konami is suing Viacom, the company that owns Harmonix for Rock Band. No word on how this law suit will turn out and how this could effect Rock Band 2.

July 10 (Bloomberg) — Konami Corp., the Japanese creator of the “Dance Dance Revolution” music video game, sued Viacom Inc.‘s Harmonix studio, claiming its “Rock Band” game violates patents.

The Konami patents, issued in 2002 and 2003, relate to simulated musical instruments, a music-game system and a “musical-rhythm matching game.” Konami also makes the “Karaoke Revolution” music game with microphones, as well as the “Metal Gear Solid” espionage game.

“Rock Band,” the game in which players emulate rock and rollers with toy instruments, drove a 16 percent increase in first-quarter revenue at New York-based Viacom’s media networks business. Konami’s Digital Entertainment unit said in May it plans to begin selling its own rock band game, called “Rock Revolution,” later this year.

Konami is demanding cash compensation, plus an order that would block Viacom and Harmonix from using the inventions, according to the complaint, filed yesterday in federal court in Marshall, Texas. The suit names Harmonix Music Systems, Viacom, and Viacom’s MTV Networks Co., which owns Harmonix…..

WTF?! is a World of Warcraft inspired, side scrolling, flash based, role playing game. so it’s a WoWiSSFbRPG, which is probably why they just call it “WTF?!”. The coolest thing is that they have released the SDK for the game so you can design your own levels, missions etc. Here is the description of the game from the website.

Currently a Demo version is available. In the demo version you can play 2 main characters, quest in 4 unique zones, interact with over 15 NPCs, and advance to level 10-ish… but be patient, it’s ~5.8 MB file that needs to load. The core functionality and game mechanics are present, but only a tiny sampling of the content. And maybe that’s a good thing…
