September would be a great time for movies too, as everyone’s depressed about going back to school and the summer being over so they would go to the movies to escape. I guess the studios just want to get as much money out of their summer blockbusters as they can. oh well. Guess I’ll just see Dark Knight in Imax again…

Nowned: Well as this is the only decent looking movie coming out this month, i guess ill probably end up seeing it. The team(John Malkovich, George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand and Brad Pitt) and the directors/producers/writers(Joel and Ethan Coen) make this look like a very promising movie but we will see how it is.
Mr. Wumpus: It looks like… well I don’t know. I won’t see it. Is this really all September has to offer? Sigh.

Opinions:

Nowned: This looks like its going to be one of my favorite “Druggy Movies” and will probably become a classic in the drug culture. Seth Rogen looks great in this.

Mr.Wumpus: Wow, this looks legitimately hilarious and almost like it would have decent “slow” moments aswell. It’s like the birth of the stoner movie with a decent cast… Gotta say, being a rabid Seth Rogen fan, I’m excited.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Nowned: After the complete disappoint that was the last 3 movies it’s nice to see a new Star Wars based movie coming out to make up for it. I love the animation style that they use for the Clone Wars animated stuff.

Mr.Wumpus: Wow, looks sweet. Especially since I hated the last three star wars movies. I loved the animated series this movie is based on and I’m expecting this movie to be atleast worthy of going to see. First thing that comes to mind when watching this trailer though, is, how can Jabba the Hut reproduce? It must be a harrowing ordeal.

Nowned: This movie looks like a big “meh” for me. It could be good but chances are it’s just going to be just another boring movie.

Mr. Wumpus: Yeah, well… since when did Will Smith get “in-demand” again? It’s probably not a terribly good thing. Nowned’s meh resounds clearly throughout my opinion aswell.

The Wackness

Nowned: The Wackness looks like one of the most esoteric quasi-mainstream movies that is going to come out this year. I’m expecting great things from this movie but i greatly doubt that the general public will appreciate it at all.

Mr. Wumpus: 25 seconds into the trailer and im just not going to watch anymore. Will not see this movie.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army

The Incredible Hulk

Opinions:

Nowned: I was extremely surprised how good this movie looks. At first i was expecting this to be the one bad comic book movie coming out this summer as pretty much every other one actually looks good, which is kinda amazing considering last summer, not to mention the fact that the 2003 Hulk movie was terrible. I especially like how the plot is actually unique for a change. I’ve got high expectations for this movie.

Bluesun: I have never really liked Hulk especially since the 2003 release.  I also see a striking similarity between Hulk and Ironman: Main character attacked by military, becomes hero, military creates copy that is better, two fight each other, main character wins, the end.

Wanted

Release: June 27th

Opinions:

Nowned: I’m probably one of the few people who have actually read the Wanted comic book series that this movies is based on but just for the rest of you to know this movie is absolutely nothing like the comic book. I don’t even know how they can say that this is based on the comic book series they aren’t alike at all. In the comic books the characters are all superheros(villians, actually) that are in a league of super villians that control the world. Now how the heck does that compare to assasins? All of this aside, this movie still looks epic. Nice to see Angolina Jolie back in full form. Can’t wait to see this.

Bluesun: Looks good, a new idea to spice it up.  Has a kind of Jumper feel to it though

Wall-E

Nowned: Everyone who knows me knows that i’m a huge fan of animated movie and especially Pixar movies. I have been looking forward to this movie ever since i heard about it when i saw the first teaser at a Ratatouille prescreening last year. Hopefully ill go see this on opening night.

Bluesun: I think this movie looks very good although if there is too much talking in “robot” it might ruin the movie.

Basically we just highlight all the movies in the next month that you should see, provide the trailer, a little information about each movie and have a little opinion written by each of our authors who want to contribute! Sometimes we omit movies from the list but these are merely ones that seem far too unimportant or ones that are universally understood as awful. All release dates are the American ones.

As a side note, all the trailers are supplied courtesy of Apple trailers and there were a slight few kinks in embedding the sexy, high resolution trailers into the post so if there is a broken video just refresh once or twice and it should fix itself.

Iron Man

Nowned‘s Opinion:
I’ve been very excited about this film ever since the first trailer. It’s based on the Marvel Comics character Iron Man, where this film gets it’s name. This film was designed to be the first part of a trilogy and the actors have signed on for the rest of the series. Hopefully the quality of the films don’t degrade over time, like in the Spiderman movie series.

Mr.Wumpus‘s Opinion:
Personally I am very excited to see this movie. At first when I heard about it I was naturally worried considering the multi million dollar fail that was all three spider-man movies but the trailers so far have convinced me that its going to be exciting and I already love their choice in lead actor. He’s a bit of a douche bag but it somehow hits an edgier and much cooler tone of superhero alter ego than the classic “good kid gets superpowers and becomes even more righteous and lame as time goes on because hes afraid of becoming ‘corrupt’ or some bull” character we normally get fed by super hero movies. *cough* Peter Parker *cough*

Fenix‘s Opinion:
I honestly do not think I could bring myself to watch another Marvel based movie where all that is keeping me from leaving is the astonishing CG. Spiderman was a prime example of this, after the first movie the plot drastically took a drop, not to mention that emo Peter Parker is the most fucking retarded thing I ever saw. The only good thing about this movie that I can foresee is it’s cast.

Moyah‘s Opinion:
I havn’t seen much promotional stuff for this movie, so I don’t really know what to expect. Based on the CG I would say it looks good, but I won’t stake much on how closely the source gets followed. The general rule is that the closer they stay, the happier fans are. I do want to see how this turns out.

Son of Rambow

Nowned‘s Opinion:
This is another interesting film to come out of last years Sundance film festival. It looks interesting and got very reviews while at Sundance, but it will be interesting to see how well it does in theaters and if it manages to get out in a wide release.

Mr.Wumpus‘s Opinion:
Never even heard of this movie before watching the trailer, but it looks funny and you can never go wrong with the endlessly hilarious accents of little english kids!

Fenix‘s Opinion:
This movie could quite possibly be the best indie film to hit since theatres since Juno. As soon as I saw the trailer in the theatre, I knew I wanted to see this movie. This movie should be an inspiration to all other indie filmmakers to make more movies! After everything I have heard about this film at the Sundance film festival I believe that it will live up to it potential. How can you not love a British kid trying to be Rambo?

Moyah‘s Opinion:
An odd, quirky looking movie that I had no idea existed until I saw the trailer. Looks like it has an interesting premise, I just want to see if it’ll do well.

Speed Racer

Nowned‘s Opinion:
Based off of the Japanese animated series thats also called Speed Racer, strangely enough. I was kinda scared about this movie for the first few trailers but its by the Wachowski Brothers of Matrix fame so i think it has a good chance. The new featurette up on Apple.com also gives me a lot of hope for this film.

Mr.Wumpus‘s Opinion:
I dont want to see this movie at all. It looks so much to me like a Willy Wonka-esque, eye bleedingly colourful, disgustingly young child oriented bastardization of a cartoon classic. I don’t care if the matrix guys directed this movie or not, it just feels so evil and wrong to me. One other thing, Speed Racer in the cartoon looked like a 15-16 year old kid but the creepy faggot they have playing him in this movie looks somewhere around 24-25+ which just strikes this disturbingly strong pedophilia tone with me. I bet the real speed racer is tied up in the trunk tapping his heels together reciting “theres no place like home, theres no place like home”. What the actor in this movie is most likely unaware of is that he, similar to Christopher Charles Mintz-Plasse of Mclovin’ fame, after this movie, will never work again.

Fenix‘s Opinion:
What the fuck is this shit? It reminds me of goddamn spy kids and to make it worse what the fuck is the guy from into the wild doing in this piece of crap movie. I will never EVER see this movie and neither should you.

Moyah‘s Opinion:
Looks like a video game. More specifically, Trackmania Nations. The movie looks well designed for younger people, ones who don’t care about plot so long as they get flashy colours and an engine sound. Me, I’m going to play Trackmania instead. It’ll be better than the videogame based on the movie anyways.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Nowned‘s Opinion:
This will be the fourth part in the Indiana Jones series after a 19 year hiatus. I’m personally extremely excited for this film as i have always been a big fan of the Indiana Jones series. The trailers have seemed too “explosion-y” compared to the rest of the series but we will see what the actual movie is like.

Mr.Wumpus‘s Opinion:
Ive never seen any Indianna Jones movies but I’m willing to sit through this one. I must admit it looks decent and who doesnt love Harrison Ford?

Fenix‘s Opinion:
Hmm… At first when I heard that they where making another Indiana Jones movie I wasn’t sure what they where thinking. But after seeing the movie I believe that it could have some potential with bad-ass Harrison Ford running the show. How ever some of his stunts remind me of some of the unrealistic crap that happens in Jackie Chan’s movies but it still might be worth a watch…

Moyah‘s Opinion:
Considering the break, I don’t know what to make of this. On the one hand, its Harrison Ford. On the other hand, I wonder if this one can live up to the others. The ‘feel’ of the movies could easily have been lost, and thats something that no trailer or interview can tell us ahead of time.
