I don’t even know how to start. er- Since I am subscribed to peta e-mails as every good citizen who kind of thinks they should protect nature, but at the same time don’t care enough to do very much about it but read about how other people do it, I’ve got a rather interesting letter today. “Help Battle Seal Slaughterers in World of Warcraft!” was the line i spotted before routinely closing the window. WHOA. All I can say is you can find the information once you click a link above.

I don’t know whether I should laugh or cry, but all the same, I’m kind of proud of all the people who come up with new interesting ideas and ways to promote what they believe in.

PS the coments there are rather silly.

According to Fudzilla, Xbox reaction to the new economic state might be recalling xbox 360 elite’s from market and only sell it in limited edition packages such as Resident Evil 5 themed special edition of the console, since the ps3 prices are to be cut and will most likely fall below those of xbox, which hardware configuration is considered to be “weaker”. Elite appears to be the slowest sold model and the majority of people who wants it, ask specifically for it. Therefore Microsoft is deciding that fewer retailers, if any, should have the model.

Those limited editions though are rumored to have a bigger hard drives and possibly few stat increases.

According to the sources, the rumor will be investigated further, as at the moment there are no definite details. But then again, other things like pegging the announcement of DirectX 11 and cutbacks were said by Microsoft to be “exaggerated”.

 I suppose we shall see.

But as this game hit America, it also hit Europe. And, like in everything else, they like to be somewhat extravagant. Here’s an ad for it:

From what I got, some two kids made a Fart Planet and are going through a bum mountain level, including the sound effects and in the end, Sackboy gets shot out of the ass (:

Well, that is certainly interesting. I lol’d.

As of some time ago, WoW has been officially declared an addiction, or a “drug”. Not only this, but according to Sweden’s Youth Care Foundation it is also a ‘key addiction” among gamers. As the message is obviously not convincing enough in itself, Mr. Rollenhagen declared, “It is the crack cocaine of the computer game world.”

One of the basis of their announcement was an event that occured a week after the new expansion came out. A 15-year-old boy from western Sweden collapsed and went into convulsions on Sunday afternoon after playing the World of Warcraft for 20 hours straight. After the even was made public, thousands of parental calls were made to the association. The foundation says that in 2007, it received 2,000 calls to its addiction helpline, 170 of which concerned computer games. Presumably, all 170 calls involved World of Warcraft. According to their speaker she has seen a “steady rise in computer game addiction, with most cases stemming from those playing online fantasy games such as World of Warcraft and Counter Strike.”

WoW might not be just a game, it might be laced with drugs, which evil Blizzard enforces on our children. For parents of those, I have two words: “Parental Control”. Don’t blame the game, blame yourself. As a responsible parent, you should learn that your child plays World of Warcraft beforehand, not postfactum. Especially if you’re the one paying for it. Then, don’t leave it hanging and set up parental controls on your child’s account, don’t assume a 15-year-old would know the limits. Pay attention to what your kid is doing before they collapse in epileptic shock.

Putting aside the lame WoW reference there (yes, shut up.), in simple words, Washington has passed a bill that commemorates the pair of the Penny Arcade creators, Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik, for their ‘contribution to the economy, charity and internet funnies.’

The bill was basically dedicated to their recent 10 year anniversary , and their Child Play charity that raised $4.5 million for children’s hospitals across America.

The amazing fact that this bill has passed the retarded-ly complicated American law-making system fascinates me, as people in both houses of American Goverment are aware of Penny Arcade and care enough to give them this “gift” of recognition.

Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik must feel rather special, and I don’t blame them, as much as recognition from the American Goverment might not be all that important or “cool”, I cannot say that any one passed a bill in my name.

So last night i was really bored and was playing games i have already obliterated so i start another oblivion file and relapse has occurred i am addicted to it again. It should pass here cause Fable 2 is coming out on October 21. So well with no money whats so ever i might just have to start selling drugs just to be able to buy it. Which is not that bad i guess other then the fact that after it comes out my empire will fall….=( but its a small price to pay for a game that is hopefully amazing beyond all belief.

I found this pretty sweet but very unfair that people who work at movie/ game stores can own the game before it is released because the store will have it in stock and just let the workers buy it when they get it the only thing is they have to pay for it on the release date or else they could be caught for releasing a game before its out.

Just look at the screen shots here

Sweet

also you can see more at the games’ site

Have fun gaming y’all should be really sweet.

Konami is still on with the law suit game. This time Konami is suing Viacom, the company that owns Harmonix for Rock Band. No word on how this law suit will turn out and how this could effect Rock Band 2.

July 10 (Bloomberg) — Konami Corp., the Japanese creator of the “Dance Dance Revolution” music video game, sued Viacom Inc.‘s Harmonix studio, claiming its “Rock Band” game violates patents.

The Konami patents, issued in 2002 and 2003, relate to simulated musical instruments, a music-game system and a “musical-rhythm matching game.” Konami also makes the “Karaoke Revolution” music game with microphones, as well as the “Metal Gear Solid” espionage game.

“Rock Band,” the game in which players emulate rock and rollers with toy instruments, drove a 16 percent increase in first-quarter revenue at New York-based Viacom’s media networks business. Konami’s Digital Entertainment unit said in May it plans to begin selling its own rock band game, called “Rock Revolution,” later this year.

Konami is demanding cash compensation, plus an order that would block Viacom and Harmonix from using the inventions, according to the complaint, filed yesterday in federal court in Marshall, Texas. The suit names Harmonix Music Systems, Viacom, and Viacom’s MTV Networks Co., which owns Harmonix…..

In case you don’t know what this crazy thing is, it is the Penny Arcade game. I know, it’s crazy isn’t it? But yes the glorious folks at Penny Arcade have created a fantastic looking game with the “legendary” producer Ron Gilbert and the producers at Hothead games. The game, Incidentally, released just today, hence the post. You can download it for a mere $19.95 USD. The game is going to be done episodically which is something that means I could really start looking forward to these things.
I suppose I cannot, in my rushed state, explain the game any better than this blurb from the website can:

On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness is an episodic RPG-adventure game series set in a deranged comic-book meets-pulp-horror 1920s universe. Armed with unconventional weaponry and witty repartee, you join forces with the Gabe and Tycho, the crime-solving team of the Startling Developments Detective Agency to make war on bizarre enemies and solve the mysteries hidden deep in the sinister heart of New Arcadia. From the hilarious and twisted minds of Penny Arcade creators Mike “Gabe” Krahulik and Jerry “Tycho” Holkins, legendary game designer Ron Gilbert and veteran producers at Hothead Gamescomes a 100% authentic and hilarious Penny Arcade experience.

I will just mention that I have not yet played it. I am currently downloading the demo and if it is fun (as I assume it will be) I will buy the game and hopefully do a review so you can all get an idea what it’s like. I am expecting to have lots of fun even if its just because I am a huge PA fan myself.
Here is the trailer; you gotta love that PA style.

If that interested you please check out this picture gallery, I thought it was pretty nifty. You notice that all the conversation appearing in the game is not done through voice acting but through a comic book panel that appears at the bottom half of the screen to display the text. What a brilliant idea.

It enables you to run a large percentage of the Windows software and games out there but on Linux(or Mac, FreeBSD etc.) so you don’t have to use Windows. This is great for people like me who have a few select pieces of software and games that they want to play but just don’t want to use Windows for whatever reason. Wine 1.0 Release Candidate 1 was released on Friday, May 9th, 2008 with Release Candidate 2 due out Friday, May 23rd, 2008.
